Christmas in Barcelona (2nd part)

Posted by: Hotel Curious at 2010-12-07

Update 17/12: Confirmed, this year the bells will be again at Agbar tower.

Here is the second part of Christmas in Barcelona special article, from Hotel Curious we encourage you to come to the city.

On December 28th is the day of the Santos Inocentes and is celebrated cracking jokes to friends and family. Here we call it "innocentadas". Its foreign equivalent would be the "April Fools" in England, Italy, is the "Pesce d'aprile" and "Poisson d'avril" in France. The traditional joke is to hang the "llufa" on the back of people without them realizing it. A "llufa" is a puppet of paper, but originally were cabbage or lettuce leaves sticking to the skirts of women.

It is also traditional in that day in the media displayed a false news that belies the next morning. Although it is a tribute to the biblical passage in which Herod kills the children under two years is a day pretty funny. The relationship is in the tricks that the parents did to hide their children of soldiers. In the Cathedral of Santa Eulalia, located very near our hotel, you can see a beautiful altar in the chapel of the Holy Innocents Chapel.

The end of the year is the time to meet with the immediate family or with friends. In Barcelona the last three years the bells have been in the Agbar Tower, the spectacular building lights up when you are in the final seconds of the year. After eating twelve grapes with twelve strokes of midnight, there are three options: Stay home drinking, partying outside or go to sleep. The three options are fine.

The kings will arrive on January 5 by the end of his great journey to our homes and make a grand parade through the streets throwing candy galore. The parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. from the Ciutadella Park and end at the Magic Fountain of Montjuic at 21.30h. To be informed of the location of the majesties, and any activity you can call 010, the telephone town hall information.

Enjoy it and Merry Christmass!!
